Surya Namaskar beyond the poses
You've moved through Sun Salutations. Now discover a way to make the practice truly your own: a two-part on-demand yoga course with Sarah Platt-Finger, Director of Yoga Programs, on the breath, awareness, energy and intention beneath yoga's most familiar sequence.
Understand the practice from the inside out.
Surya Namaskar is one of yoga's most familiar sequences. Yet beneath its physical form lies a rich and deeply rooted practice of breath, awareness, energy and intention.
Across two pre-recorded video workshops, internationally respected yoga teacher Sarah Platt-Finger introduces you to the distinctive approach of Gaja Yoga: grounded in the depth of yoga philosophy, personalized for the individual, and made accessible so it can feel supportive in every body. Your body doesn't need to conform to the practice; the practice can meet you.

Rooted in tradition. Made relevant to you.
Accessibility
Explore Surya Namaskar with respect for your body rather than striving toward one prescribed expression of a pose.
Personalization
Listen inward, make thoughtful choices, and discover how the practice can become personally meaningful.
Depth
Explore philosophy, symbolism, breath and subtle dimensions so the sequence becomes something you feel, not simply shapes you perform.
Structure meets spirit.
Watch at your own pace as movement, breath, awareness and intention become one integrated experience.

Do I need yoga experience?
No. The two-part course welcomes newer students while offering meaningful depth for experienced practitioners and yoga teachers.
What does it mean for the practice to be accessible?
Rather than expecting every person to express a pose in exactly the same way, Gaja Yoga encourages thoughtful adaptation, internal awareness and respect for the individual. Sarah offers principles and options to help you explore the practice in a way that feels supportive.
Can I watch the recordings at my own pace?
Yes. Both recordings are in your Gaja eLearning account. Watch them in order, pause when you need to, and return whenever you like; the course includes lifetime access.
Do I need to watch both parts at once?
No. Watch each part when it suits you and revisit sections as you practice.
What do I need to practice along?
A yoga mat, comfortable clothing and any props you use to support your practice. You may also want the downloadable practice guide and a journal nearby.
Is this a teacher-training information session?
No. Embody the Sun is an educational and experiential yoga course. You can explore Gaja's 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training after the lessons if you want to continue learning.
What if I decide to join the Yoga Teacher Training?
